If you are paying an Accountant to complete your Tax Return only because of Child Benefit, did you know you no longer have to complete a self-assessment return?

You can make the payment through your tax code, so it is collected through your wages instead.

If you previously completed a Tax Return ONLY because of Child Benefit, you can call HMRC on 0300 200 3310 and ask to be removed from self-assessment and register to pay the Child Benefit through your tax code instead.

As always, this depends on your individual circumstances, so it’s worth checking before taking action.

⏰ Don’t leave your Tax Return until January!

January might feel a long way off, but Self Assessment comes around quickly — and the last thing you need after Christmas is tax return stress.

Sending your records now means: -

• You’ll know your tax bill sooner
• You’ll have more time to budget for the payment
• Any missing information can be sorted without panic
• You’ll avoid penalties and any unnecessary stress

And remember — filing now DOES NOT mean paying early. Tax is still normally due by 31 January.

So why not get it ticked off your list now and enjoy January without the tax return panic?

📩 Send your records over as soon as you can, and let’s get your Self Assessment sorted.

Are there benefits to filing your Tax Return early?

• find out sooner if you’re due a refund and receive it quicker
• pay in instalments to help with your budgeting
• get help if you can’t pay the tax due
• avoid the stress of doing it at the last minute
• need your tax return as proof of income for a mortgage?

Early filing does not mean early payment is required. The payment deadline remains at 31 January.
