Cash ISA rules are changing.

From April 2027, savers under 65 will be limited to £12,000 a year in Cash ISAs, making 2026/27 the final tax year to put the full £20,000 ISA allowance into cash.

If cash savings are a priority for you, this could be an important year to review how much of your allowance you’re using.

Planning ahead now could give you more flexibility before the new limit comes into effect.

A good business plan should help you:

✅ Set clear goals
Know what you want the business to achieve over the next 12 months, 3 years and beyond.

✅ Understand your numbers
Forecasting sales, costs and cash flow can highlight problems before they become serious.

✅ Make better decisions
When opportunities arise, your plan gives you something to measure them against. Does this move the business towards its goals, or simply create more work?

✅ Identify risks
Consider what could affect your business from losing a major customer to rising costs or changes in your market - and plan how you would respond.

✅ Plan for growth
Growing without enough cash, staff or infrastructure can create just as many problems as not growing at all. A business plan helps you prepare.

✅ Keep yourself accountable
Review your plan regularly. Compare where the business actually is against where you expected it to be and adjust accordingly.

If you haven’t looked at your business plan for a while, now might be a good time to ask:

Where do we want the business to be this time next year - and what needs to happen to get us there?
