🚨 Self Assessment: don’t miss the October deadline!

If you’ve become self-employed or started receiving income that means you need to complete a Self Assessment tax return for the first time, there’s an important date coming up:

📅 5 October 2026 - That’s the deadline to tell HMRC that you need to register for Self Assessment for the 2025/26 tax year.

And no, you don’t need to wait until January to think about it.

Missing the registration deadline can create unnecessary stress, particularly when you’re already trying to keep on top of your finances, records and day-to-day commitments.

If you think you may need to register, check now rather than assuming you have until January.

A deadline is much easier to deal with when you know about it early.
