Selling plants, produce or homemade goodies
Doing freelance work alongside your day job
But when does a hobby become a business?
And when does HMRC need to know about it?
Selling a few things you no longer want is very different from regularly buying or making things with the intention of selling them for a profit.
And if your side hustle starts growing, you may need to think about the £1,000 trading allowance, Self Assessment, expenses and potentially VAT.
Do not wait until your little side hustle has turned into a full-time business to find out you have missed something.

There are 45 lions all around the city to be collected. Think we might be the only people to have visited one by boat!
