What is MTD?

MTD (making tax digital) was introduced in April 2026 to sole traders and landlords with a gross yearly income of £50,000 and in April 2027 will be mandatory for sole traders and landlords for gross yearly income of £30,000.

It will replace the single yearly tax return with a quarterly return and final year end declaration.

What do you need?

You will need to keep all records digitally

You will need to have the compatible software (We use Xero)

Send quarterly updates through your software

And the final declaration is due 31st of January

MTD is nothing to be afraid of but it is a big change and for some businesses more admin work… if you need help with MTD get in touch!
