Annuity or Drawdown - which could be right for you?

When it comes to accessing your pension, there are two main routes, but they work very differently.

One option is an Annuity: You exchange your pot for a guaranteed income for life. They’re predictable, secure, but don’t offer any flexibility once set up.

Another option is a Drawdown: Your pension stays invested, and you draw an income from it as and when you need it. This is more flexible and your pot can continue to grow, but it also carries investment risk and there's no guarantee your money will last.

Many people choose a mix of both securing essential income with an annuity while keeping some funds flexible in drawdown.

There's no one-size-fits-all answer here. It comes down to your circumstances, other income, health, and appetite for risk.

Tomorrow is the big launch of Speakeasy Club's Big Bench2Bench Walk Campaign with Joe Ledley!

The challenge will see the team walk 260+ miles across Wales in just seven days, travelling from Holyhead Hotspur AFC on Anglesey to Sully Sports FC and visiting 25 community sports clubs along the way.

We're proud to be supporting the event and Speakeasy Club, who use the power of sport to help tackle male su***de, providing free mental health resources, education and support to community sports clubs across Wales.

It's set to be a fantastic afternoon at Heaney’s Cardiff featuring Great British Menu chef Tommy Heaney, an exclusive conversation with former Wales international Joe Ledley, the launch of the Big Bench2Bench challenge and a charity auction and raffle.

September has busy from every perspective; financial resets, forward planning and plenty of meaningful community engagement.

With summer behind us, many clients have been taking the opportunity to get their finances in order ahead of Q4. Our team has been busy helping them regain clarity and confidence.

We were proud to sponsor new shirts for Penarth Men's Shed, a brilliant local group supporting men’s mental health through companionship and connection.

This month we supported several fantastic local charity and sporting events including:

Penarth Lawn Tennis Club Golf Day in memory of Pete Jones, raising funds for Velindre Cancer Centre Fundraising

Annual Golf Day in Memory of Stewart Humphreys, organised by Penarth Cricket Club, raising money for Kidney Wales .

We also raised a toast to Penarth Cricket Club who celebrated their 175th Anniversary!

There seems to be no slowing down as the end of the year approaches but we wouldn't have it any other way.
