I attended Bathing in Business, organised by Fran Ash, business mentor and networking strategist, who has taken her networking group on tour. The event took place at The Movement Centre at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

It was wonderful to hear another excellent and moving presentation from Curtis Langley about the incredible work the centre does. Chief Executive Helen Knight also shared more about the challenges they face, particularly the constant need to fundraise to continue delivering their vital work.

It was lovely to see some familiar faces, including Paul Mansell of PSM Kitchens, Sarah Carter, Kelly Griffith of WPG, Alex Hall, Stacey Pugh and Theresa Hancock. It was also great to meet Steve Jarvis of Zuoshi Web and Design, and to hear that my “Life is not a rehearsal” line resonated with Gem Wooden!

Thank you to Fran for bringing everyone together, and to The Movement Centre for sharing more about the difference they make.

Looking back on last week’s meeting, where I had the pleasure of hosting on behalf of Connect Educate & Collaborate!

We enjoyed a fantastic session with presenter Ray Smith from Insight Leadership Solutions, bringing valuable insights and opportunities for discussion.

A big thank you to Shai Patel and Kim Goode for organising everything and bringing everyone together.

It was lovely to catch up with familiar faces, including Shirley Lane, Alex Hall and Kate Schenk, while also making some new connections. A particular pleasure to meet Edward Moody of Moody Accounting.

Another great reminder of the value of bringing people together, sharing knowledge and building meaningful business relationships.

It was great to attend last Friday’s Connect, Educate and Collaborate event at The C**k Hotel in Wellington!

Hosted by Shirley Lane, the event featured a fantastic presentation from Denise and Rick McGowan, who shared their insights into wellness and their work as Arbonne Consultants.

A big thank you to Shirley for organising another great event, and to Simon Smith at The C**k Hotel for providing a splendid venue as always!

And a quick apology to Simon for accidentally walking out without paying for my baked potato! Thankfully, I realised and quickly rectified it with a bank transfer!

It was also lovely to catch up with Richard Berry, Jana Ward, Mark Wakely, Kate Schenk, Victoria Elesmore, Shai Patel, Kim Goode and many other familiar faces. Always great to connect with such a fantastic local business community!

A recent birthday was a good reminder to practise what I preach, taking the time to step away from work and spend some proper time celebrating with the people who matter.

We had a lovely afternoon at The Boat at Erbistock, enjoying a beautiful setting, good food and, most importantly, time together.

Two of the family were missing because of work and school commitments, but it was still a wonderful afternoon and a chance to slow down and appreciate the moment.

Last week, I attended a great business seminar on Building the Firm of the Future, with speakers from Aberdeen, AJ Bell, Octopus and Vanguard, hosted by Darren Lowry and his team at Verve Group.

There was plenty to get stuck into, from the upcoming changes to ISAs, pensions and inheritance tax in 2027 (with AJ Bell’s view being “It’s complicated”!) to the evolving value of financial advice and how humans and AI can work together to improve the client experience.

Some really interesting discussions and food for thought on what the future of financial services might look like.

And it seems my contribution to the human vs AI debate was enough to win me this hat!
