Out of office is officially on - a little sooner than anticipated!

Introducing Freddie Peter William O'Hara - 6 pound 6! 💙 He decided he didn't want to wait for his planned c-section date, and came early. I woke up with contractions in the early hours of Saturday, then had an emergency c-section at 07:56. We're so in love already, and can't wait to take him home tomorrow!

It can be easy to fall behind with your bookkeeping, but the longer you leave it the more overwhelming it can feel to tackle it.

I recommend always putting some time at least once a month to keep on top of everything. The end of the month is a good time to catch up on your paperwork and get everything in order ready to start the new month afresh.

I've been quiet on socials recently, and for a very good reason....

Shortly before losing my Dad at the end of April, we also had some good news. Andy and I are expecting our 2nd baby in December, a baby boy! 💙 Freya is VERY excited!

It's been a bit of an emotional roller coaster the last few months, as you can imagine. Thankfully, I had an early scan, so my Dad got to share our news before he passed.

I've been keeping busy with work and family, but staying away from business events. I also wanted to discuss my plans with my existing clients before going public with our exciting news! All being well, I don't plan on being out of action for long, although I will be absent from the networking scene for a little bit longer!

Planning on starting to share useful bookkeeping info and tips again soon, so watch this space!

I’m heartbroken to share that my Dad passed away peacefully in hospital this afternoon, with me and my Mum by his side. I’m aware I have several meetings booked in this week, and I’ll be in touch personally to rearrange. Thank you for your understanding and kindness during this time.

It's coming to the end of the month, so what bookkeeping tasks do you need to be ticking off to ensure that you stay on top of everything?

✅ Make sure that you have copies of all of your receipts and invoices and that they are filed in order or saved electronically.
✅ Ensure that all income and expenses have been recorded.
✅ Reconcile all bank accounts and credit cards and follow up on any discrepancies.
✅ Complete payroll
✅ Ensure that all invoices have been issued and that outstanding invoices have been chased up.

A slightly more personal post today as it's mine and Andy's anniversary - 8 years married and 19 years together.

If someone had told me on my first day at Brunel Franklin that, not only would the quiet person sat opposite me become my best friend, but that we would go on to get married, have a child together, and start our own business, I don't think I'd have believed them. But here we are 19 years later!

So happy anniversary Andy O'Hara. You'll absolutely hate me for posting this, but sometimes I just need to tell you how special and important you are!
