It may seem a bit early to be thinking about Christmas, but for Revive Healthy Living Centre it's already high on the agenda. Revive applied for a grant from the Chesterton House Foundation to support their Secret Santa appeal, and we were delighted to award them £1,000 towards it.
Secret Santa provides gifts, coats, footwear, sensory toys, and educational materials to children and young people referred by teachers, health professionals, and social care.
Revive has received referrals for over 700 children so far this year, all of them in need. Some are bereaved, some are young carers, but all are worthy recipients, and demand keeps growing as the cost of living crisis puts more pressure on local families across Chaddesden, Oakwood, Spondon, and Derby.
One young boy once asked for football boots, hoping to join a team. He got his boots, and he did join a team, going on to play regularly in the years that followed. It's a small example of what Secret Santa does for the children Revive supports.
