This morning, we were delighted to be joined by philanthropist, TV presenter and now renowned book author Katie Piper OBE] for one of our most inspirational Global Motivational Zoom Sessions yet.
During Katie’s early twenties as a model, she had her life turned upside down at the age of 24 when she was subjected to a brutal acid attack where she was placed in an induced coma and remained in intensive care for two months. The attack caused severe burns to her face, body, and left her permanently blind in her left eye.
Katie described that during the immediate aftermath of this awful attack she began to reflect. It allowed Katie to identify three key life lessons:
Change: The need to pursue purpose and to create urgency when doing so as change can happen in an instant.
Regret: Recognising that there is so much time wasted on things that didn’t matter and instead we should be focusing on happiness.
Impact: The necessity to make more of a positive impact on life not just yourself but other people around you as well.
Since the incident, Katie continued to search for her purpose, focusing on the things that really mattered, and to make a positive impact in society. Since setting up The Katie Piper Foundation in 2009, she has been awarded an OBE for her services to charity and has now published eleven books, the latest focusing on the importance of affirmations by providing 365 quotes that celebrates hope and resilience. Katie is now set to pursue a new venture in the publishing world, by writing a children’s book titled “All You Need” which is set to launch in February 2023.
