📢 Important Update for Self-Employed Clients
HMRC is changing how self-employed individuals and landlords report their income.
From April 2026, anyone earning over £50,000 from self-employment or property will need to follow the new Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax rules.
Those earning between £30,000 and £50,000 will join from April 2027.
🔹 What this means:
You’ll no longer submit just one yearly tax return. Instead, you’ll need to provide quarterly digital updates throughout the year, followed by a final declaration at year-end.
🔹 Why this matters:
The new system requires accurate record-keeping and timely submissions. Working closely with your accountant or tax adviser will ensure your information is filed correctly and on time, avoiding penalties or compliance issues.
💡 Tip: If you’re self-employed, now is the best time to speak to your accountant to prepare for these upcoming changes.
