The rules changed in April 2025. Turnover under £15m, balance sheet under £7.5m, or 50 or fewer employees - you may now be exempt from a statutory audit.
Around 13,000 more UK businesses qualify for exemption than before. But there are traps: group structures, regulated sectors, and first-year trading can still mean you need one, even if your numbers say otherwise.
