I first came across Bitcoin in 2013, I was working in FX sales at Hermex FX in the City of London and it was after I became responsible for publishing the morning market report, which required I digested the international financial news everyday.

Later that year in the 08:30 morning meeting, in the conference room overlooking Broadgate Circle, I pitched buying 10 coins at roughly £100 each, although admittedly I wasn't looking at it as an investment.

I proclaimed "we can use it as a marketing gimmick, we sell so many currencies... we even sell Bitcoin". Unsurprisingly it was laughed off and we moved on with the meeting.

Years later at IFX in Mayfair I continued to follow Bitcoin while again publishing a daily market report as chief currency strategist and it was here that I really began to understand the potential of this new asset class.

Flash forward to today, Monday 4th January, the first trading day of 2021 and to be starting the first new calendar year, standing in the offices of my own company with Bitcoin on the front page of The Financial Times will be a moment I’ll never forget.

While today will forever be remembered for other reasons, this remains my moment of today.

Bitcoin hits $23k! 🍾

The lobby at 100 Bishopsgate is looking suitably festive this afternoon while today marks the last day in the office for many and with just a fortnight till Christmas.

We’ll be in the office throughout next week and even enjoying a few socially distanced evening drinks with our clients and partners.

In case we don’t get another chance to do so, we’d like to take this opportunity to say a gargantuan thank you to anyone who has put their faith in us this year and been a part of our journey so far.

While 2020 will go down in history for many (along with magazine) as the ‘worst year in history’ for obvious reasons we look back on it as bitter sweet.

As a truly global marketplace, the FX market is open 24 hours a day, from Sunday night when the market opens in New Zealand at 23:00 (London GMT+1) all the way through till Friday night, when the market closes in Toronto, Canada at 22:00.

As a result Bronte-Stewart Capital was founded as a 24 hour brokerage, available at any time of day for registered clients who’s lives are often international by nature.

Nevertheless on Tuesday 3rd November Bronte-Stewart Capital will be open and we will be at our desks in our offices at 100 Bishopsgate to cover the fallout of the results of the U.S. Presidential Election.

The first polls close on the East Coast at 19:00 local time (01:00 GMT+1) with results beginning to flow in from then and with an official result expected at 02:30 EST (08:30 GMT+1)

This will be the first of many 24 hour trading sessions at the Bronte-Stewart Capital London offices with the next one most likely to be held on the 31st January for the end of the Brexit transition agreement.

Incidentally please submit all trading account applications by 12:00 (GMT+1) on 30th October in order to guarantee your account is active and authorised to trade by the event, otherwise unfortunately you’ll have to strap in and watch the market unfold as a bystander.

We continue to feel that the market-participants have underestimated and overly discounted the possibility of another surprise Trump victory and therefore unsurprisingly feel that this outcome would cause the most dramatic price volatility in all financial markets.
