Ahead of International Day of Charity tomorrow, our teams have come into the office wearing their favourite football shirts and sports tops to raise money for our Charities of the Year.

With four of our five chosen charities being football foundations, it felt like the perfect way to show our support while raising funds for the valuable work all five charities do across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.

This year we're proud to support:

Let's be honest... MTD isn't going away.

The first quarterly deadline has passed, and while many businesses approached it with a sense of dread, the reality was quite different.

In our experience, most found the process more straightforward than they expected. Once records were up to date and the right systems were in place, the actual submission was often the easy part.

That's not to say there haven't been challenges. ICAEW recently described experiences as mixed following the first round of submissions. Across the profession, advisers have reported a mixture of software issues, information gathering problems and capacity pressures during the first filing cycle.

Which raises an interesting question: If HMRC scrapped MTD tomorrow, would you still review your finances every quarter?

While MTD is ultimately a compliance requirement, regular financial visibility can help businesses spot issues earlier, manage cash flow better and avoid surprises.
