Following the lack of attention on housing and first time buyers in the recent budget, it’s very refreshing to see a lender introducing a new product to the market specifically to help first time buyers.

Yesterday was a good day for two reasons…
Not only did the Bank of England vote to hold interest rates after 14 consecutive increases, but even better a lovely client sent us these chocolate brownies, which are quite honestly the best chocolate brownies in existence!
Thankfully there is just enough left to go with the mid morning ☕️ (if it lasts that long!)
We highly recommend ⬇️

With an impending rise to the base rate expected to be announced by the Bank of England today, its worth reminding those that will be remortgaging this year a few key things that are not widely published…
💡 The average fixed rate mortgage has dropped by over 1% since the mini budget last September, and are continuing to reduce.
💡 Increases to the Bank of England base rate directly affect all VARIABLE rate mortgages only.
💡An increase to the base rate doesn’t directly affect the pricing of fixed rate mortgages. Fixed rate mortgages can still reduce despite an increase to the Bank of England base rate.
For any further queries on this, please drop us a message directly.
Average fixed rates drop over one per cent since mini Budget - Mortgage Solutions Analysis by L&C Mortgages showed that the average rate for a two-year fixed rate comes in at 4.67 per cent today, which is down from 5.9 per cent in November.

As markets predicted, the Bank of England have today announced a further increase to the base rate, now at 3.5%, up from 3%.
What this means for borrowers?
- Anyone with a variable rate, or a tracker rate mortgage will see the higher rate reflected in increased monthly repayments.
- Despite the Bank base rate increasing, fixed rate mortgages have been falling in recent weeks which is a trend we expect to see moving into 2023.
