Have You Reached Your SIPPing Point? ⚖️

New research from interactive investor reveals that most Brits don't actively engage with their pension until a major life event forces them to. In fact, the average person doesn't start taking their retirement savings seriously until age 36 – potentially missing years of growth and compounding along the way.

The finding comes from interactive investor’s SIPPing Point campaign, which explores the life moments that prompt people to take greater control of their retirement savings, while encouraging and empowering them to start planning before life forces them to.

To help people get ahead when it comes to their retirement planning, interactive investor has identified five common "SIPPing Points" that might prompt a pension check-up:

• You've reached your mid-30s: The average Brit doesn't actively engage with their pension until age 36 - meaning they may have already missed out on years of compounding.

• You've started a new job: One third of pension savers say they looked at their pension during workplace onboarding - but haven't checked it since.

• You've bought your first home: Many major financial milestones often trigger people to take a closer look at their long-term finances and retirement plans.

• You've become a parent: Starting a family means that financial priorities might start to look different - highlighting the importance of planning for the future.

• You've accumulated multiple pension pots: Consolidating pensions into a SIPP might make retirement savings easier to manage and track.

When it comes to retirement, the important thing is not to wait until life forces the conversation. Starting early, contributing little and often, and making the most of tax-efficient pension savings can make a meaningful difference over the long term.

Retirement can feel like a long way off when you’re building your career, buying a home or raising a family, but giving your pension more time to grow is one of the biggest financial advantages you can give your future self.

From the stage to the fields, our Sales Manager, Alison, has literally stepped up and dug deep this month.

She joined other businesses in Yorkshire to take part in a talent contest to raise money for Cancer Research UK, and two days later joined her colleagues in Lancashire to tackle the Born Survivor obstacle course to raise money for St John's Hospice 💚
