There is so much talk about the new MTD for Income Tax that HMRC will be implementing from April 2026.

My advice to you, is not to panic, but to start planning. It is the start to a new tax year so is the ideal time to maybe think about keeping your records on a compliant digital software. This will give you the time to calmly get to grips with processing your data and ready for when you need to comply.

HMRC have scheduled MTD:
2026 is a £50,000 threshold
2027 is a lower £30,000 threshold
2028 will be all self employed
