From 6 April 2027, Making Tax Digital for Income Tax becomes mandatory for those with qualifying income over £30,000 in the 2025/26 tax year, unless an exemption applies.

The threshold applies to your combined income from self-employment and property before expenses are deducted, rather than your profit.

You’ll need to:

• Keep digital records of income and expenses.
• Use compatible software to send quarterly updates to HMRC.
• Submit your annual tax return through that software.

Preparing now gives you time to choose suitable software, get your records organised and become comfortable with the new reporting requirements.

Unsure whether you’ll be affected? Get in touch - we can check your position and help you prepare for a smooth transition.

The Va**ng Products Duty came into effect on 1 October 2026, adding £2.20 per 10ml to va**ng liquids manufactured in or imported into the UK from that date — including nicotine-free products.

For businesses selling va**ng products, now is the time to review supplier arrangements, stock levels and the potential impact on pricing and margins.

Eligible unstamped stock produced or imported before 1 October can still be sold until 31 March 2027, giving retailers a transition period to manage existing supplies.
