Company Tax Return
Your company or organisation must file a Company Tax Return if HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) sends you a ‘Notice to deliver a Company Tax Return
You must still file a return even if your company has made a loss or has no Corporation Tax to pay.
If you’re self-employed as a sole trader or work in a partnership, you do not need to file a Company Tax Return. Instead, you must file a Self Assessment tax return.
Filing your return
You should file your Company Tax Return online.
You can only file your return by post if:
* you have a reasonable excuse for not filing online, or
* you are filing your return in Welsh.
If you previously used HMRC’s online service, you may need to follow different steps to file your company accounts and tax returns.
What your tax return includes
When completing your Company Tax Return, you need to work out:
* your profit or loss for Corporation Tax, which may be different from the profit or loss shown in your annual accounts
* the amount of Corporation Tax you owe
You can prepare and file your tax return yourself, or you can ask an accountant to do it for you.
Deadlines
You normally have 12 months after the end of your accounting period to file your Company Tax Return.
If you file your return late, you may have to pay a penalty.
The deadline for paying your Corporation Tax is separate. For most companies, it is 9 months and 1 day after the end of the accounting period.
Penalties for late filing
You’ll have to pay penalties if you do not file your Company Tax Return by the deadline.
Time after your deadline Penalty
1 day £200
3 months Another £200
6 months HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will estimate your Corporation Tax bill and add a penalty of 10% the unpaid tax

Junior Individual Savings Accounts (ISA)
Junior Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) are long-term, tax-free savings accounts designed for children.
Who can get a Junior ISA?
Your child must:
* be under 18
* live in the UK
If your child lives outside the UK
Your child can only have a Junior ISA if both of the following apply:
* you are a Crown servant, such as a member of the UK Armed Forces, diplomatic service or overseas civil service
* your child depends on you for care
Your child cannot have a Junior ISA and a Child Trust Fund at the same time. If you want to open a Junior ISA, ask the provider to transfer the Child Trust Fund into it.
How Junior ISAs work
There are two types of Junior ISA:
* Cash Junior ISA ,you do not pay tax on the interest earned on your savings.
* Stocks and shares Junior ISA ,your money is invested, and you do not pay tax on any capital growth or dividends you receive.
Your child can have one or both types of Junior ISA.
A parent or guardian with parental responsibility can open and manage a Junior ISA, but the money belongs to the child.
Your child can take control of the account when they turn 16, but they cannot withdraw the money until they turn 18.
Open a Junior ISA
Only a parent or guardian with parental responsibility can open a Junior ISA for a child under 16.
To open a Junior ISA, you need to:
* choose the type of Junior ISA you want for your child cash, stocks and shares, or both
* choose an account provider
* get an application form from the provider
Your child can have:
* one cash Junior ISA
* one stocks and shares Junior ISA
Children aged 16 or 17 can open a Junior ISA themselves.
Junior ISA providers
Junior ISAs are available from a range of providers, including banks, building societies, credit unions, friendly societies and stockbrokers.
Contact a provider directly to find out more about their Junior ISAs and how to open an account with them.

Proof of eligibility for Child Benefit
You can usually use your Child Benefit award notice as proof that you are entitled to Child Benefit.
Child Benefit award notices have replaced Child Benefit numbers as the main way to prove eligibility. If you made your first claim after 23 February 2021, you will not have a Child Benefit number.
Check with the organisation requesting the proof to find out what evidence they require and how recent it needs to be.
If you need alternative proof
You may be able to:
* Use a bank statement showing Child Benefit payments being made into your account.
* Use the online service or the HMRC app to print your ‘proof of entitlement’ page or save it as a document.
Using the online service
You will need to sign in to use the service. If you do not already have sign-in details, you can create them.
When you sign in, you will be told if you need to verify your identity. This helps keep your information secure and will usually involve using photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence.
If you need help obtaining proof
Contact the Child Benefit Office for further information about getting proof of your entitlement.
