Ballantyne & Co was formed in 1964 by John Ballantyne to provide audit, accountancy and tax assistance to small traders and family businesses. John Hughes joined the practice in 1979 becoming, along with Jim Ballantyne, who joined in 1985, a partner in 1989. John and Jim took over the running of the business in 199
3 as Jim’s dad prepared for retiral. They retained the firm’s name in acknowledgement of the high regard the firm was held by the Glasgow & West of Scotland business community. Ballantyne & Co has evolved from its roots, without abandoning them, and has expanded to provide the full range of services to an ever widening circle of satisfied clients. In today’s world of modern electronic communications we are able to service clients throughout Scotland and have clients in London, Birmingham and Belfast, amongst others. The growth of the practice continues and today boasts, no less than, 4 professionally qualified accountants and a further 2, with over 30 years experience each, amongst it 13 staff, a ratio which ensures that all clients receive a high standard of professional service at all times. Clients, not only, have a dedicated principal assigned to them but have a secondary contact to ensure they have a continuous relationship and someone who knows their business available to them at all times. Clients are, therefore, always assured of prompt and reliable service. An important feature of the practice is to provide family businesses with a level of service akin to having your own financial director where this is not carried in house and is welcomed by clients. We, also provide the full range of compliance services to suit each client’s individual needs.
