MTD for Income Tax is coming 🚨

From April 2026, landlords and the self-employed with a turnover of over £50k must:

✔ Keep digital records
✔ Submit quarterly returns to HMRC
✔ Use MTD-compatible software

The threshold drops to £30k in 2027 and £20k in 2028 — so many more taxpayers will be affected.

📅 Chancellor Rachel Reeves unveiled the Spending Review in Parliament on 11 June 2025.

✅ Top Headlines
• Gov’t spending will grow ~2.3% per year in real terms over the review period, adding roughly £190 billion more for day-to-day services  .
• NHS boost: £29–30 billion extra by 2028 (~3% real‑term increase annually) .
• Defence upgrade: +£11 billion; budget rising to 2.5–2.6% of GDP by 2027 .
• Social housing: Record £39 billion over 10 years to build ~1.5 million homes by 2029 .
• Energy & net-zero: £14 billion for Sizewell C nuclear, plus support for carbon capture and small modular reactors .
• Public transport & schools: £4.5 billion for school upgrades, bus‑fare cap extended to 2027, £445 million for Welsh rail .
