Off the Bench: James’s Carbon Internship

Starting something new can feel like stepping out onto the pitch before a big game, a mix of nerves and anticipation.

In our latest blog, James shares what it’s really like to join the Carbon team, from those first-day nerves to building confidence, skills, and a genuine passion for financial planning.

From hands-on learning and exploring private markets to team days out, it’s a great reflection of what happens when people feel supported and part of something from day one.

At Carbon, financial planning is about more than numbers, it’s about helping people enjoy life now and in the future. It’s brilliant to see that come through in James’s experience.

Some traditions truly define a team, and for us at Carbon, our annual birthday celebration has always been one of them.

This year we marked our 15th birthday the only way we know how - with a bit of adventure and a lot of laughter. From treetop challenges at Go Ape to a final team meal together, it was a day that captured everything we value: teamwork, support, and stepping outside our comfort zones.

As we prepare to join Progeny later this year, it’s a bittersweet milestone, closing one chapter while looking ahead to an exciting new one.

Want to hear some of our favourite memories from the past 15 years (including pirates on St Andrews beach 🏴‍☠️)?

“Should I still use a Cash ISA?”

On Saturday 16th May three of our Carbon colleagues, along with a couple of family members, hiked up hills and down dales to take part in the Cancer Research UK 10k Big Hike in the Trossachs.

They crossed the finish line at a respectable 2 hours 29 minutes, so it shows what great company, glorious weather and stunning scenery can help you achieve!

More importantly, the team have raised over £540 so far for such an important cause.

If you would like to donate via Carbon’s donation page, the link remains open and proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK to help in their fight against Cancer: https://lnkd.in/e536UvVk
