Building a firm (or any business) forces a choice: keep operating on urgency, or step back and lead with strategy.

At Mirandus Accountants, we’ve learned that real progress comes when you connect day-to-day actions to the bigger picture—cashflow, priorities, and the value each task adds.

Here’s what “from survival to strategy” looks like in practice—and how to start making that shift.

Very, very handy tax trick if you want to keep your NI state pension credits whilst you're not working due to parenting responsibilities

The Great Wealth Transfer 04/12/2025

There is something huge happening.

There isn't just a wave of inheritances happening now.

Many assets being passed on — homes, pension pots, investments — have risen sharply in value (real estate inflation, stock markets, etc.), and because tax thresholds haven’t kept pace, more estates are becoming vulnerable to significant tax liabilities on transfer.

Many wealthy families lose most of their assets by the third generation.

It is possible to pass wealth on without facing a big tax hit, and maintaining some control over how assets are used or distributed.

The announcements at the Budget aren’t isolated tweaks — they’re part of a clear pattern.

The government is narrowing every traditional tax advantage used by small business owners: exits, dividends, pensions, payroll.

You don't need to panic, but you do need to re-run your numbers.

The founders who adapt early will make better decisions than those who wait for HMRC to surprise them.
