The office is now closed until Tuesday as we go off to celebrate our lovely Emma marrying her team mate for life, my favourite nephew!!

It was announced today that the business mileage rate for up to 10,000 miles has been increased from 45p per mile to 55p per mile backdated to April ‘26.

For those clients who use Freeagent I am sure they will be working behind the scenes to automatically change this.

Remember if you are employed and your employers pays you less than 55p per mile (or previously 45p per mile) you can claim tax relief on any underpayment you receive!

Well today seen one of the Oak team flying the nest and moving on to his next chapter! Alex has been a valuable part of Oak for the last 18 months during which time he has finished his degree and now secured an amazing post grad job with BlackRock!

We all wish you the very best Alex Eltringham and are looking forward to seeing what the next chapter has in store! Bet lunchtime conversations will not be the same as Oak’s!!

Thanks to the power of Facebook’s memories I was reminded this morning that 8 years ago today I handed in my notice to take the giant leap to take Oak (or Clark accountancy as it was known then!) full-time!

I can still remember how nervous and excited I was for what I could build (even if the morphine I was on made me braver than I would have been 😆) Never did I think Oak would ever be where we are now and while it’s been tough and exhausting at times other than my boy it’s my biggest achievement and I am so lucky to get to do what I do every day with the most amazing colleagues, clients and contacts!

When I speak to start ups I never forget this feeling and that’s why I love helping them ❤️
