If you were due to pay a second Self Assessment payment on account on 31 July and didn’t do so, do it now.

If you need an arrangement with HMRC, you can usually do that online. Again, do it now.

If you are included within Making Tax Digital, your first quarterly return is due for submission by Friday 7 August.

If your Vat return is due up to 30 June, it needs filed by Friday 7 August too.

If you are under the Making Tax Digital regime, you need to get your first quarterly return completed and filed NOW.

All clients who are required to submit Making Tax Digital Returns, need to arrange for us to receive their accounting records for the period 6 April 2026 to 5 July 2026, need to leave their accounting records for that 3 months period into us as a matter of urgency.

Our Downpatrick office will close at 3.30 pm on Friday 10th July and reopen at 9.00am on Wednesday 15th July.

Our Newcastle office will be closed on 14th , 15th and 16th July.

We don’t normally share information about consultations by HMRC on tax changes.

We will make an exception this time, due to the context of the introduction of Making Tax Digital ( which is happening for a lot of people now).

The Government is consulting on a proposal to have self employed taxpayers and landlords pay their tax on a monthly basis from April 2029.

It’s only a proposal. It may never happen. It probably will.
