Whether you earn extra income from freelancing, online selling, content creation or other side work, HMRC is reminding taxpayers to check whether they need to declare it.
The key threshold is the Β£1,000 trading allowance. If your trading income exceeds this in a tax year, you may need to register for Self Assessment and report your earnings.
With HMRC receiving more information from online marketplaces and digital platforms than ever before, it's important to understand your tax obligations and keep accurate records from the start.
Not sure if your side hustle needs to be declared? We're here to help.

Can you trust AI with your tax questions?
The government's new AI chatbot can answer basic tax questions using official http://GOV.UK guidance, but it isn't designed for complex tax situations and, like any AI, it can sometimes get things wrong.
AI is a useful starting point β but it shouldn't replace professional advice when money is at stake.
