⚠️ Higher-rate taxpayers: Are you missing out on pension tax relief? ⚠️

If you earn more than Β£50,270 and pay into a pension that uses the "relief at source" method, your pension provider will automatically claim 20% basic-rate tax relief and add it to your pension pot.

But here's what many people don't realise...

If you're a 40% higher-rate taxpayer, you're entitled to an extra 20% tax relief.

If you're an additional-rate taxpayer (45%), you're entitled to an extra 25% tax relief.

HMRC won't automatically pay this extra relief into your pension or bank account. You need to claim it yourself, usually through Self Assessment or by contacting HMRC and asking for your tax code to be adjusted.

Even better, you can usually backdate claims for up to 4 previous tax years, which could mean a significant refund if you've never claimed before.

It's worth checking your pension contributions and making sure you're receiving all the tax relief you're entitled to.

Don't leave your money with HMRC when it belongs in your pocket. πŸ’·

⏳ Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is coming... are you ready?

If you're a sole trader or landlord, the countdown is on.

Ask yourself:

βœ… Have you registered for MTD for Income Tax?
βœ… Is your bookkeeping software MTD-compliant?
βœ… Is it set up correctly?
βœ… Are your records up to date and digital?
βœ… Do you know what information you'll need to submit each quarter?

With the deadline fast approaching, now is the time to get prepared and avoid a last-minute scramble.

Many businesses are finding that while they have software in place, it isn't configured correctly for Making Tax Digital requirements. Getting set up properly now can save a lot of time, stress and potential penalties later.

At Foreshore Accountancy, we can help with:

πŸ“Š Software selection and setup
πŸ“± Xero, QuickBooks and cloud accounting support
πŸ“‹ MTD registration guidance
πŸ“ˆ Digital bookkeeping processes
βœ… Ongoing compliance and quarterly submissions

Don't wait until the deadline is on your doorstep.
