π¨ Self-Employed and Planning a Mortgage? Don't Get Caught Out... π¨
As of today (6 October 2026), many mortgage lenders are beginning to request evidence of your 2025/26 income when assessing self-employed mortgage applications.
The important thing to remember is that, under HMRC rules, your 2025/26 Self Assessment tax return may not need to be submitted until 31 January 2027. However, if you're applying for a mortgage before then, your lender may want to see your latest figures now.
This could include:
β
SA302 / Tax Calculation
β
Tax Year Overview
β
Latest accounts
β
Up-to-date income figures
If these aren't prepared, it could lead to delays or potentially reduce the number of mortgage options available to you.
Whether you're looking to buy your first home, move house or remortgage, getting organised early can make all the difference.
π At Clayton Hulme Partnership, we help self-employed clients prepare for the mortgage process and understand exactly what lenders are likely to require.
Get in touch today if you'd like to discuss your plans and make sure you're mortgage-ready.
