In the past two weeks, Germany has been debating single parents🧑🧒🧑🧒🧒.
Should support be reduced?
Should single parents simply work more?
Who should carry the financial responsibility?
Whatever your political opinion is, the debate revealed something much bigger.
Millions of single mothers are still financially vulnerable.
And that’s exactly why I think we’re asking the wrong question.
Instead of only discussing benefits for today, we should also be talking about financial independence tomorrow.
Because retirement isn’t an age.
It’s a financial plan🧭.
As a single mom, you’re already planning everything.
✔️ School.
✔️ Out of school activities.
✔️ Groceries.
✔️ Doctor’s appointments.
✔️ Your child’s future.
But when was the last time you planned your own future?
Many women postpone retirement planning because there never seems to be enough money or the “right time.”
The truth?
There is no perfect moment.
Germany is preparing a new government-supported retirement investment account, expected to launch in 2027. That’s an important step.
But it shouldn’t become an excuse to wait.
You can already start today by:
• understanding your pension gap
• reviewing your workplace pension (bAV), if available
• building an investment strategy
• investing consistently - even if you start small
Financial security is rarely created by one government decision.
It’s created by hundreds of small decisions we make over time⏳.
Because retirement isn’t something that suddenly starts at 67.
It’s built one decision at a time.
💬 What’s one financial decision you can make this month that your future self will thank you for?

Last Monday marked a turning point in Germany’s pension debate.
For the first time, the Rentenkommission recommended investing part of future pension contributions in the capital markets—a model that countries like Sweden have successfully used for years.
Will 0.5% change everything?
No.
But it’s a start.
At FrauFUTURE, we’ve always believed that retirement shouldn’t rely on just one system.
Your pension is one pillar.
Your investments are another.
The earlier your money starts working for you, the more choices your future self will have.
This isn’t just about pensions.
It’s about financial independence.
What do you think—should Germany follow countries like Sweden and invest more of its pension system?
