🚨 CRA SCAM ALERT: Don't Fall for This Fake Tax Notice!
Imagine receiving a message saying there's an error in your tax return and you need to download a revised Notice of Assessment (NOA) immediately.
Sounds important, right? That's exactly what scammers want you to think.
Here's how this scam works:
Scammers send emails or text messages claiming:
❌ Your tax return contains errors.
❌ CRA has issued a revised Notice of Assessment.
❌ The document is not available in your CRA account.
❌ You have limited time to download it.
Their goal may be to steal your personal information or trick you into downloading malicious software.
✅ How to protect yourself:
✔️ Never click suspicious links or download unexpected attachments.
✔️ Don't reply or share your SIN, banking details, or CRA login information.
✔️ Visit Canada.ca directly and sign in to your CRA account to verify your tax information.
✔️ Report suspected fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
Remember: Scammers create urgency so you react before thinking. Always verify first!
At Rana Accounting & Tax Services Inc., we believe tax services should go beyond filing returns. Helping Canadians understand CRA notices, protect their information, and stay informed is just as important.
