Hi, I’m Shayla, a bookkeeper at Capital Accounting & Bookkeeping. I’ve been in the field for seven years, with experience working with construction companies and corporations. Currently, I’m expanding my expertise in personal tax preparation and gaining deeper insights into working with non-profit organizations.

Born and raised in the Okanagan, I feel lucky to call this beautiful region home. In my free time, I love exploring the area’s amazing wineries and hiking trails!

Paul A.
Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Hi, I’m Paul, bookkeeper and office manager here at Capital Accounting. Born and raised in Wollongong Australia, I began my accounting career in 2020 working as the accounting assistant for a Vancouver based non-profit. In 2023 I completed my Bachelor of Commerce and Accounting from the University of South Australia before joining the Capital Accounting team in early 2024. I have experience working with both non-profit organizations and corporations and am currently undergoing education to strengthen my personal tax knowledge.
When I’m not in the office you can find me taking advantage of the many hikes and breweries here in the Okanagan or hunting for records to expand my collection.

Bookkeeper

Hi, I’m Carol, a bookkeeper with Capital Accounting and Bookkeeping. After a rewarding 30-year career in public service, I decided to follow my true passion and transitioned into bookkeeping. In addition to my bookkeeping expertise, I bring several years of experience in personal income tax preparation and stay current with the latest government regulations and updates.

I’m dedicated to delivering clear, accurate, and dependable services, whether it’s managing your books or assisting with tax returns. My goal is to make the entire process smooth, stress-free, and tailored to your needs.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, reading, Pilates, baking, and occasionally knitting Christmas stockings for my children’s dog! 😊

Cathie M.
Bookkeeper

Cathie was born and raised in the Lower Mainland, where she began her career in administrative and accounts receivable roles. She spent much of her early professional life with a distribution company as an Inventory and Purchasing Coordinator. With a natural talent for numbers, Cathie earned her bookkeeping certification over 30 years ago, followed by a Business Management Certification. These qualifications paved the way for her role as an operations manager at an extended care company. Her extensive experience in business management and budgeting has made her an invaluable asset to Capital Accounting & Bookkeeping Co.

Now settled in Kelowna, with a summer home on the Shuswap, Cathie enjoys spending her free time with her grandchildren, paddleboarding on Shuswap Lake, or getting lost in a good book.

Trena Smith
Founder/Accountant

Trena embarked on her career journey at Okanagan College, where she pursued a Business degree with an accounting designation. In 2016, she founded Capital Accounting & Bookkeeping Co. (formerly known as Capital Bookkeeping Co.). Since its inception, Trena has successfully expanded her business to serve a diverse clientele, including personal tax clients, proprietorships, corporations, and non-profit organizations.
