Campaign Results are in: our “like” campaign was a huge success and we were joined by the Schneider family at BC Children's as we presented our cheque for $62,360 to Matthew Boydston VP and CFO BC Children's Hospital Foundation and Dr Sanatani from Cardiology. This brings our 4 year cumulative campaign for BC Children's Hospital Foundation to $286,510.
Our campaign was simple. Just “like” the post that we posted on May 15th and for every “like”, we donated $10 and we matched all online donations.
We asked for your help and you came through with amazing support.
We dedicated this year’s campaign to Hannah Schneider who has received lifesaving support from BC Children's Hospital Foundation. Thank you to her parents Jason Schneider and Jennifer Schneider for joining us yesterday as well as brother Holden Schneider.
Joined by my team Angela Wadsworth, CFA BComm Joshua Gibney, CFP® Stephanie George and Vilma Castellani.
Thank you so much for all of your support.
Until next year!!

Preferred Shares 5.2% || GIC Rate 4.2%
***Better rates MUCH lower tax ***
Tax Really Matters - we have had many calls asking us about GIC rate options given that rates are falling. If you have not considered preferred shares, you should take a look.
The rates are better: 5.2% Preferred Shares vs
4.2% GIC
The tax rate is much lower - see the difference in the picture below.
If you have an investment portfolio of $500k or more and want to have some of your funds allocated to higher rates and lower tax (separate from stock market exposure), give us a call.

Tax planning considerations for the 2024 Federal Budget proposed capital gains inclusion rate increase scotiawealthmanagement.com
04/25/2024
This change to the capital gains rules is NO JOKE and is really going to hurt anyone who has worked hard to build up wealth.
It is not clear to me why Governments at all levels are looking to hurt the people who invest and innovate and create the employment that grows the Canadian Economy. (This is just me ranting!)
Having said that, there are actions you can take now to plan for this change but do not let Jun 24th 2024 come and go without exploring how this will impact you. June 25th is when these changes come into effect.
If you have an investment portfolio - this will affect you
If you have rental properties - this will affect you
If you have a trust or a corporation - this will affect you
If you have done estate planning to pass assets to the next generation - this will affect you.
Our team specializes in all aspects of financial/estate/tax planning and we are here to answer your questions about this major change to the tax rules for capital gains and how to deal with it.

Clients of mine are pleasantly surprised to hear that even though the limit is $6000 (will be $6500 in 2023), often we are allowed to put more into the tfsa than amount each year. If you are curious to know more about our tfsa strategy, send me a message and I'll share.
