Pride Month is an important opportunity to recognize and celebrate the depth, diversity, and lived experiences that exist within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. At Crowe Soberman, our 2026 Pride theme, The Colours That Connect Us, reflects a simple but powerful truth: the very differences that make each of us unique are also what strengthen our collective sense of connection, belonging, and community.

It is a reminder that inclusion is not built through sameness, but through creating space for people to show up fully, authentically, and without compromise.

As part of this year’s recognition, we are proud to once again introduce our Pride logo, a symbol that reflects the broad spectrum of identities, experiences, and perspectives that shape our workplace and communities. Each colour represents the richness of lived experience within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and reinforces our ongoing commitment to building an environment where everyone feels seen, valued, respected, and supported.

Pride Month is also a moment for reflection. It invites us to recognize both the progress that has been made and the work that still remains to ensure that equity, safety, dignity, and opportunity are realities for all people, regardless of identity or expression.

At Crowe Soberman, we remain committed to fostering a culture where inclusion is not simply acknowledged, but actively practiced through how we lead, collaborate, communicate, and support one another every day.

Happy Pride Month! 🌈

We came together this May for a Town Hall that marked a defining moment for our firm as we introduced our 5‑Year Strategic Plan.

We walked through the three pillars guiding our future: delivering Smart Growth & Client Value, strengthening Culture, Retention & Organizational Excellence, and accelerating Innovation, Technology & Future Capabilities. The energy in the room made it clear that our teams are ready to move forward with clarity and purpose.

From there, the afternoon opened into an interactive trade show, where teams connected with the leaders behind each pillar to dig deeper into how these focus areas will come to life. Insightful conversations, hands‑on exploration—and a well‑earned cotton candy break to top it all off.

We’re stepping into this next chapter aligned, energized, and ready to build what’s ahead together.

Opportunities move fast for digital creators — taxes don’t. They build quietly with every payout, partnership, and expense. With irregular income, unpredictable platform payments, and cross‑border earnings, keeping clean financial records is anything but simple.

By combining cloud accounting, precise income categorization, and early professional insight, creators can build reliable financial systems that make tax season more manageable.

May is Asian Heritage Month, a meaningful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, achievements, and enduring contributions of Asian communities across Canada.

This year’s theme, Honouring Asian Canadians: Stories that Built Canada, invites us to reflect on the generations of Asian Canadians whose resilience, innovation, leadership, and perseverance have helped shape the social, economic, artistic, and cultural fabric of our country. Their stories are deeply woven into Canada’s history and continue to influence the future we are building together.

At Crowe Soberman, we recognize that the strength of our workplace is enriched by the diversity of experiences, perspectives, and talents that Asian Canadians bring to our teams, our clients, and our broader communities. These contributions not only strengthen our organization, but also deepen our collective understanding of collaboration, leadership, and inclusion.

Asian Heritage Month is also an opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect more intentionally. It encourages us to acknowledge both the achievements and the challenges experienced by Asian communities, while continuing to create environments where people feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed authentically.

Throughout May, we honour the individuals, families, leaders, creators, and changemakers whose stories continue to inspire progress and connection across generations and communities.

Crowe Soberman proudly recognized Jewish Heritage Month with a meaningful session that invited us to reflect on the importance of memory, heritage, and the personal histories that shape our community.

We welcomed Jerry Scherer, Vice President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto and father of our Managing Partner, Adam Scherer. Jerry shared a moving story about his parents, who survived the Holocaust, endured Soviet deportation, lived in a Displaced Persons camp, and eventually rebuilt their lives in Canada. His reflections offered a powerful reminder of the resilience carried through generations.

Jerry also demonstrated how AI tools can support genealogical research by helping families locate records, clarify lineage, and bring personal histories to life.

He closed with a message that resonated deeply, reminding us to preserve our stories so they become lasting gifts for future generations of our families. This sentiment speaks to the heart of Jewish Heritage Month and encourages us to honour lived experience while continuing to learn from the diverse stories that enrich our firm.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Crowe Soberman we are taking this opportunity to focus on the importance of understanding and support in the workplace. Mental health plays a vital role in how we show up for one another, and we are committed to fostering an environment where people feel safe, respected, and heard.

Our approach to well‑being includes numerous resources, flexibility, and initiatives that help our teams maintain balance throughout the year. As part of this commitment, we are reintroducing our companywide Step Challenge for its second year. This initiative encourages movement, connection, and renewed energy after a demanding season, while reinforcing the link between physical activity and mental wellness.

Throughout May, we look forward to meaningful conversations and shared efforts that strengthen our community and support the well‑being of our people.

The CRA is intensifying its focus on transfer pricing, creating a more challenging environment for Canadian businesses. Audits are becoming more assertive, positions are harder to reverse, and areas including intercompany services, financing, and IP arrangements are receiving heightened scrutiny.

Recent court decisions have reinforced the CRA’s broad discretion, underscoring the need for proactive planning rather than reactive adjustments. Transfer pricing strategies must now be supported by rigorous documentation, clear evidence of economic substance, and defensible analysis.

Canadian companies should be assessing whether their current transfer pricing frameworks can withstand a more demanding and increasingly sophisticated review process.
