Last week I had the privilege of teaching Financial Literacy to middle school students in Salmon Arm. I taught 3 classes and the students were engaged and we had a lot of conversations around saving for the future. We used the mantra "Save today choose tomorrow" and spoke about the challenges around saving and some strategies to help one save for their goals. My one ask for all the students at the end of the class was that if they only remembered one thing today that it be to "pay yourself first". I truly believe that one skill with benefit them tremendously into their future. My next opportunity to teach at the middle school is coming up before Christmas and I am enjoying every minute of it!

This past weekend I participated in the fundraising event "Dancing with the Shuswap Stars" to benefit the Shuswap Hospice Society. It was a successful event with the participating dancers raising over $41,000. I was voted Peoples Choice for most votes and raising the most amount of funds in my category at over $5250 which included an RBC Community Togethers Grant for $1500 to benefit the Shuswap Hospice Society. The Final tally for the night still to come!
