You can now get your SIN almost instantly if you apply online and have one of the following:
💼 work permit
🎓 study permit
🪪 permanent resident card
If eligible, your application will be processed through a new automated solution, and your SIN will be available in My Service Canada Account 💻

Due to the potential Canada Post strike, some City documents, including property tax notices, may be delayed.
⏰ Reminder that property tax payments must still be received by July 3. Pay early to allow time for processing.
Payments can be made:
👉 Through online banking
👉 In-person at 515 West 10th Avenue
👉 At your bank or ATM
If tax payments sent by mail arrive late, a 5% penalty is applied to the unpaid balance. Canada Post postmarks are not proof of on-time payment. Courier is recommended for international payments to ensure timely receipt.

Starting January 1, 2025, Canada’s withholding tax rate for non-residents selling taxable Canadian property will increase from 25% to 35%.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in partnership with the NDP, has introduced a $6.3 billion affordability package to support Canadians facing rising living costs. Key measures include:
1. A one-time $250 rebate for over 18 million Canadians (You must have worked and made $150,000 or less in 2023 & filed your 2023 tax return)
2. A temporary suspension of GST from December 14, 2024 to February 15, 2025 on select items, such as grab-and-go meals, restaurant bills, alcohol, toys, books, puzzles, newspapers, and Christmas trees.
The package aims to provide financial relief during a challenging economic period and is subject to parliamentary approval.
