There's likely a new normal coming for interest rates. Economists expect it won't look like current rates, but it also won't be the low rates you've become accustom to over the past decade or more...

I recently came across an old video of Jim Carrey delivering a commencement speech to a class of university graduates back in 2014. When you have conversations with clients daily about their money, their goals, their values and what that money really amounts to and means to them... this line from Jim Carry's speech really resonated with me. Yes, money is a tool, which can be used to build a fantastic lifestyle. It can be used to create a positive impact on your community, family, or offer the opportunity to do things for those closest to you and create lasting memories. But ultimately when you reach the later stages of life, and you reflect on the life you've lived, how you feel will likely have very little to do with how wealthy you were or how many things you could afford either for yourself or for others, but rather the mark you've left on those closest to you will be what you cherish most. Again, money is a tool, which can be used to create good, but from Jim's experience, it's not the answer. We're here to help you understand and apply that tool in the best way you see fit, tapping into your values and helping you realize the memories you'll be able to make. What you do with the rest of your currency is up to you.

Inflation seems to be heading in the right direction, with the impact of interest rates taking effect. However, core inflation still remains between 3.5 - 4% and could be stickier for longer, meaning interest rates could remain at higher levels through 2024, looking to 2025 before the Bank considers reversing course and reducing rates.
