Budgets aren’t just for businesses that are struggling.
In fact, when business is going well, planning becomes even more important.
A budget helps you decide:
✔ How much you can reinvest
✔ When you can afford to hire
✔ What you can spend on equipment
✔ How much cash you should retain
✔ Whether you’re actually hitting your goals
Without a plan, a good year can easily turn into higher spending without better results.
A CFO helps turn your goals into numbers—and then measures how you’re actually performing against them.
📩 Business going well? That’s a great time to start planning what comes next.

That invoice from six months ago?
It’s worth another look.
An aging Accounts Receivable report can tell you:
✔ Who owes you money
✔ How long invoices have been outstanding
✔ Which accounts need follow-up
✔ Whether some balances may no longer be collectible
And the longer an invoice sits unpaid, the harder it can become to collect.
Good bookkeeping doesn’t stop when the invoice is sent.
It includes knowing whether you’ve actually been paid.
📩 When was the last time you reviewed your outstanding customer balances?

Some of the most valuable conversations happen when there isn’t a tax return due.
You’re thinking about hiring.
A new opportunity came up.
You’re considering financing.
You’re wondering whether you can afford a major purchase.
Or something in the business just doesn’t feel right.
Those are exactly the times when having someone who already understands your business can make a difference.
We’d rather have the conversation before the decision than hear about it at year-end.

Having clean books is important.
But that’s only the beginning.
Your financial information can help you answer questions like:
✔ Are margins improving?
✔ Are expenses creeping up?
✔ Can we afford another employee?
✔ Is cash getting tighter?
✔ Which parts of the business are performing best?
We don’t believe your financial reports should only come out at tax time.
They should help you run your business.
📩 If your books are current but you aren’t sure what the numbers are telling you, let’s change that.

There’s money in the bank.
Things must be going well… right?
Maybe.
But your bank balance doesn’t tell you:
• How much GST you owe
• What’s coming due for payroll
• What you owe suppliers
• Upcoming tax obligations
• Whether the business is actually profitable
Some of the money sitting in that account may already have a job.
That’s why your bank balance should never be the only number you use to judge how your business is doing.
📩 Quick check: do you know how much of your current bank balance is actually available to spend?

Your bank account isn’t the only account that needs reconciling.
Business credit cards should be reconciled too.
Why?
It helps catch:
✔ Missing expenses
✔ Duplicate transactions
✔ Incorrect charges
✔ Payments posted incorrectly
✔ Transactions without receipts
And if you have multiple cards or employees using company cards, it becomes even more important.
Monthly reconciliations help make sure the balance in your books actually matches what you owe.
📩 If your credit card accounts never seem to match your bookkeeping, we can help get things cleaned up.

You have extra cash in the bank.
So should you use it to pay down debt?
Not necessarily.
Before making that decision, consider:
✔ Your interest rates
✔ Upcoming cash needs
✔ Tax obligations
✔ Your available credit
✔ Planned investments or growth
✔ How much of a cash cushion you need
Paying down debt can save interest and strengthen your balance sheet but using too much cash can leave the business vulnerable when something unexpected happens.
A CFO helps you look at both sides and find the balance that makes sense for your business.
📩 Have extra cash but aren’t sure where it should go? Let’s look at the numbers before you decide.

After more than 25 years working with business owners, here’s something I wish everyone understood:
You don’t have to have all the answers.
You just have to be willing to ask good questions.
The business owners who continue learning, asking for advice, and making thoughtful decisions are usually the ones who build businesses that last.
That’s why I enjoy what I do.
Helping business owners gain confidence, one conversation at a time.
📩 What’s one question about your business you’ve been putting off asking?

Good decisions don’t happen by accident.
They’re built on good information.
We help business owners move beyond simply recording transactions.
We help them understand:
✔ What’s working
✔ What needs attention
✔ Where opportunities exist
✔ What the numbers are really saying
Because the better the information…
The better the decision.
📩 If you’re making important business decisions without feeling confident in the numbers, let’s have a conversation.

But one investment often gets overlooked…
Understanding the numbers behind the business.
When you understand your financial reports, you make better decisions.
