This really resonated with me.

Christine Coughlin from YVR Creatives recently wrote about intentionally slowing down — something I think many of us as business owners need to give ourselves permission to do.

I slow down in the summer, too. But slowing down doesn’t necessarily mean checking out.

It’s often when I finally have the space to look at my own financial world the same way I encourage my clients to look at theirs.

I review my retirement projections. My life insurance. My investments. Our properties and projected estate taxes. And, most importantly, whether the strategies we’ve put in place still reflect the life we’re actually building.

Because life changes. Businesses change. Families change. Your financial strategy should evolve with them.

Christine’s article was a great reminder that sometimes stepping away from the day-to-day gives us the perspective to see the bigger picture.

So as summer winds down, here’s a question worth asking:

Does your financial strategy still reflect the life you’re building?

Last night did NOT go according to plan. ✈️

My flight was cancelled at the last minute, which turned into a long drive, a tank of gas and a whole lot of frustration. But on the drive home, I looked up and saw this.

It got me thinking about how often life works this way. We make plans. We organize. We think we know how things are going to unfold… and then something completely outside our control changes the plan.

I see it in my work all the time.

Markets change. Careers change. Families change. Health changes. Retirement plans change. Sometimes life simply says, “nope, we’re going a different way.”

Good financial advice isn’t about creating a perfect plan and expecting life to cooperate. It’s about building enough flexibility into the plan that when the road changes, you can change with it.

And occasionally, the detour gives you a pretty incredible view. ❤️

It’s funny how the smallest moments often become the best parts of our day. I’ve realized that’s true in business too. The work I love most has never really been about investments or insurance. It’s about people. It’s about relationships that grow over years, being someone families can call when life changes, and building a business where people feel cared for, not sold to.

I’m grateful for the little visitors… and for the people who keep showing up in my life too. 🐾
