A great article about spousal RRSPs. I really liked the idea of having the high income spouse making the spousal RRSP contribution & the lower income spouse using the Home Buyer Plan (after 3 years) to fund the house purchase. A win-win, a deduction and down payment.
The best line of the article: "...when it comes time to repay the HBP the spouse with little or no income may decide not to repay the money. If they have little or no income then there will be little or no tax to pay if the repayment is not made."
