Personal tax season is almost here, and every year it sneaks up on people faster than expected.

I see it happen again and again — slips coming in late, documents missing, and stress that could’ve been avoided with a bit of early prep. Personal taxes aren’t complicated most of the time, but leaving them to the last minute usually is.

With tax season starting next month, now is a good time to start pulling things together:
T4s and RL-1s, investment slips, RRSP contributions, medical expenses, donations, or any side income that might be easy to forget.

Getting organized early makes a real difference. It gives you time to ask questions, fix small issues, and make sure you’re not missing credits or deductions you’re entitled to. It also helps avoid surprises from CRA or Revenu Québec once the return is filed.

Taxes are something we deal with every year. Rushing through them doesn’t have to be part of the process.

A little preparation now can save a lot of stress later.
