Some people say I’m competitive. That’s because I am. Mostly on the soccer field, but also at work. Being part of the Turner Moore team (since 2015) definitely feels like soccer some days — we have rules, a squad, club staff, contracts, a club culture and tradition, and a schedule for each season (fixture list). As a part of this amazing team, I always bring my personal best, and get to practice my passion every day. I love studying taxation. Here are some highlights: I began my career in the Audit & Assurance Group of one of the big four international accounting firms, before moving to another one where I became Manager of their Business Tax Services practice. I hold a Bachelor of Accounting & Financial Management degree (2009) and Masters of Accounting (2010) from the University of Waterloo and hold designations as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), and Licensed Public Accountant (LPA) — definitely some competition in play there. Along with annual adventure travel with my wife and daughter to various places around the world, I am committed to understanding the complexities of tax as it applies to each of my owner-managed businesses. My services include designing and implementing tax minimization strategies, compliance, and helping clients with business acquisitions, divestitures, valuations, restructuring, and estate planning. I have also completed CPA Canada’s 3 year In-Depth Tax course and the In-Depth Owner-Managed business tax course. Closer to home, and as the foundation of my business, I am the financial services partner for a host of local private companies representing a wide variety of industries including hospitality, distribution, construction and the non-profit sector. Back to soccer (and sports). I play regularly with the Western Ontario Soccer League and am best known for scoring goals on the field. I also keep active by playing basketball in a local recreational league. I take great pride in the many trusted, long-standing relationships I’ve built with my clients and with the community over time. It would be my pleasure to welcome you into that circle. James W. I am a Chartered Professional Accountant a Certified General Accountant, and a Licensed Public Accountant. My entire career consists of working in public accounting. My strong desire and drive to become an entrepreneur and offer my technical skills combined with interpersonal skills and an understanding of what client service excellence really means, made me join Turner Moore as a partner in 2006. I bring extensive experience in accounting, assurance, taxation and management consulting services. I played and coached both minor and senior soccer where I built up my team spirit. I am the president of a local soccer club for more than twenty years. I am fully bilingual in English and Greek and have proudly served as an Executive Board member of the London Greek Community including a 12-year stint as President. And because I can never be part of enough teams, I have served as Canadian president of an international fraternal service organization, as a member of the Board of the Archdiocese Council of Canada for my church and have volunteered countless hours to the non-profit and charities sector. I am a proud father of two sons both of whom are Chartered Accountants. I totally enjoy spending my vacations in many parts of Europe. I love history and exploring ancient sites; and while in Europe I never miss the chance to watch several soccer games in the Champions and UEFA Leagues.
