Canada is still high and rising. Mostly due to oil and diesel prices spilling over into other components. I guess we need Alberta

Well Canada... our job numbers were published and it is not pretty. We were expecting a small increase and we ended up with a decline of 68,300 jobs. It was a big drop in both full and part time jobs and makes Canada a net job loser for 2026 so far. In BC we have a chance for change to support a government that will make job growth and supporting all residents the focus of the mandate. The NDP has been catering to special interest groups and the "vocal minority" while ignoring working class Canadians. Vote for the BC Conservative party so that Lorne Doerkson can become the next premier of BC. Are you planning on doing anything to support change?

Canadian rose slightly in July to 3.0% (from 2.8%) which is getting farther away from the 2% target of the Bank of Canada. With rising inflation, it lowers the purchasing power of a currency and is a hidden tax on the population, it lowers your standard of living. The reason for this, is that wages do not automatically adjust for the higher costs so your dollar simply does not go as far as it used to. Temporary spikes of inflation can flow through the economy without major incident but this long term rate is hurting Canadians.

Canadian came in hot at 3.2% in May but most of that was due to a rise in Energy prices. Those have come down but it will be interesting to see how that spills over into other components. We will get more data before the next decision on interest rates by the Bank of Canada on July 15th
