A simple example of why where you put your money matters.
I recently worked with a client who received roughly $30,000 from an inheritance. Wanting to make a responsible decision, he walked into his bank and asked for advice on what to do with it.
The money ended up in a savings account earning 0.5% interest.

Using the Rule of 72 (a simple way to estimate how long it takes money to double):
72 ÷ interest rate = approximate years to double

At 0.5% interest:
72 ÷ 0.5 = 144 years
That means his $30,000 would take approximately 144 years to double (assuming the rate stayed the same).

Compare that to a conservative 8% average rate of return:
72 ÷ 8 = 9 years
At 8%, $30,000 could potentially double in about 9 years.

The difference isn’t about taking unnecessary risk — it’s about understanding your options, your time horizon, and making sure your money is working toward your goals.
A simple conversation before making a decision can sometimes change the entire outcome.
