Payroll remittance deadlines shouldn’t depend on one person remembering when they’re due.
Your remitter type determines how often payroll deductions need to be remitted, which makes having a clear process essential. Calendar your deadlines, set reminders, assign responsibility, and make sure backup coverage is in place when someone is away.
A well-documented system can help your business stay organized and keep important payroll obligations from falling through the cracks.

September 15 shouldn’t arrive before you know whether it matters to your business.
Corporate tax instalment requirements depend on your specific circumstances. The first step is confirming whether instalments apply to your corporation and what your payment schedule looks like.
When they do apply, planning ahead matters. Building upcoming tax obligations into your cash flow planning can help you prepare for payments without putting unnecessary pressure on the rest of the business.
Knowing what’s due and when gives you more time to plan.

GST/HST is easier to manage when you're staying ahead of it, not catching up.
A mid-year review is a great opportunity to make sure your processes are working as they should. Ask yourself:
• Is your business registered when it needs to be?
• Are you charging and collecting GST/HST correctly?
• Do you have the documentation to support your input tax credits?
• Are you setting aside enough cash for remittances?
• Do you understand your filing periods and important deadlines?
Taking the time to review these questions now can help reduce stress, avoid surprises, and keep your business on track through the rest of the year.

Wilkinson & Company LLP is proud to announce that Shikha Bhatia and Emily Zimmerman passed the Common Final Examination (CFE), the final milestone in completing the academic requirements leading into their CPA designation. A national three-day exam, the CFE assesses CPA candidate competencies, including knowledge, professional judgement, and ethics.
Shikha earned her Bachelor of Commerce in India in 2018 before completing a two-year Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting at Douglas College in New Westminster, British Columbia, in 2020. She joined Wilkinson as an articling student in October 2024, marking the beginning of her CPA journey. Shikha is particularly interested in tax and audit and enjoys the technical knowledge, analytical thinking, and problem-solving these areas require. She looks forward to building her experience through more complex engagements and deepening her understanding of how accounting and tax principles apply in practical business situations.
Emily completed the bridge program through Loyalist College and Ontario Tech University, earning a Business Accounting Diploma in 2021 and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), specializing in Accounting, in 2023. She then completed a Graduate Diploma in Accounting at Ontario Tech University. Emily first joined Wilkinson as a summer intern in 2022 before returning to the firm full-time in October 2023.
Please join us in congratulating them on this remarkable accomplishment!
