Spend your time worrying if today is better for hiking or canoeing, not if you can buy new skis, or afford to retire someday.

Don’t let money worry run your life. Take control of your money and use it to support the life you want to live.

Best personal finance book I have read to date!
It covers the basics of what, plus covers the whys, but why it's my favourite it because it also goes into the how's and not just the technical how's like the other books, but the how do I actually get myself to do these things based on how my brain works.

This book takes into account that people live complicated lives and works with those elements, not against them. Love, love, love this book.

Have you read it? What did you think?

Learn about how we think about money based on how the brain works. I really enjoyed this book. Lots of short chapters that each explore a topic with generally the right about of depth and storytelling.

Have you read it? What did you think?

I choose to spend more than the 'recommended' amount on housing so I can live an How I choose to spend my money might be different than you, and that's okay. Everyone makes different choices and there is no universal good or bad. What's important, I believe, is that you're intentional with your choices and that you take into account current you and

Having a plan helps you feel more in control of things. Full stop.
This goes for planning a weekend away, a backcountry trip, and your financial life.
Sometimes if fine, and fun to take things as they come, and I'm all for that. Personally however that's not how I want to be doing everything. Generally I like having a sense of how things will go, and I can then adjust as needed or desired. This goes for my weekend's away, my backcouintry trips, and my financial life.

So excited to have completed my certification. I have adapted how I work, and continue to adapt them, based on all the amazing things I learnt throughout the Trauma of Money program.

This method is a game changer for better understanding your relationship with money and how to make changes to your life that you'll actually do, and stick to.

Some things can be complicated, but they don't have to be. Investing is one of them.
I love this quote from the book Tipped from . We had the third of the four sessions we're taking to explore this book yesterday and I loved going through the investment part in chapter 8 as the analogies are super fun.
Your finances don't have to be complicated, or boring. You can do this.

Then vs Now: Budgeting. It's not about restriction, it's about being intentional.

I used to think budgeting was about putting limits on things, but I've come to realise that it's about giving me choice and control over what I want to do with my money. It's about having a plan so I actually manage to do the things I want to do, and don't just react to things I decided w***y nilly in the past.

Living in the mountains isn't easy on the finances, but it's worth it, to me at least.
When you're intentional with your financial decisions you can often do more than you thought possibe.

What financial decisions are you intentional about?

I'm someone who like to feel in control of the situation. That goes for skiing, my weekend, or my financial life.
Having a plan for what to do on my ski day, on the weekend, and in my financial life, helps me feel like I'm the one in control of the situaiton, not like I'm just reacting to whatever happens to come my way, with no idea how things might turn out.
Do you feel the same way? Why/why not?

Not talking about money in public just makes us all feel like we're the only one in a situation. You're not alone. Come ask your questions, and talk about money while out enjoying the beauty around us.
