The finance tasks that get pushed aside are usually the ones that feel small today and expensive later.
If you keep putting off the same jobs, they don’t disappear. They turn into cash stress, BAS pressure, and rushed decisions when you can least afford them.
A quick review each week helps you catch them early:
• unpaid invoices
• GST set-asides
• overdue bills
• messy bookkeeping
• loan repayments coming up
Pick one task and deal with it before it becomes urgent.

Friday afternoon, and the BAS is due, payroll is waiting, and super is sitting in the same pile of notes.
That’s usually when the headache starts. Not because the work is impossible, but because the numbers haven’t been kept current.
When your bookkeeping is behind, cash flow gets fuzzy and everything feels harder than it should.
Tighten the system behind the numbers, and the whole thing gets a lot easier to manage.

Ever notice how one fixed monthly bill feels easier to plan for than a stack of random costs?
That’s why fixed-fee support can make budgeting feel steadier for business owners. You know what’s coming, what it covers, and when to expect it.
Less guessing. Fewer surprises. More room to plan the rest of the business with confidence.
If your numbers feel harder than they should, book a conversation.

Before the next quarter starts, look at the part of your business that actually decides how tight cash feels.
Revenue can look fine and still leave you short. The real check is where the money went, what's due soon, and whether your cash buffer can carry the load.
Review these first:
• unpaid invoices
• upcoming GST and PAYG amounts
• loan repayments
• regular overheads
• any spending that crept up without a real plan
A quick numbers review now can save a lot of pressure later.

Need to lodge a tax return, or not sure if you need to at all?
There are a few ways to handle it, depending on your situation. You might lodge yourself, get help with a simple return, sort out a deceased estate return, or let us know you don’t need to lodge at all.
If you receive franking credits, you may still be able to claim a refund even without lodging a return.
Comment LODGE if you want help working out your next step.

Friday afternoon and the numbers still don’t feel clear? That’s usually the sign to check them before September gets busy.
A quick spring money reset only needs five numbers: cash in the bank, money owed to you, money you owe, tax set aside, and what’s left after bills.
When you know those five, decisions get easier. Less guessing. Less scrambling.
Save this for your next money check-in.

A fixed-fee setup changes more than your invoice. It changes how you plan.
When you know what your core support costs each month, cash flow gets easier to map. Fewer surprises. Clearer decisions. Less scrambling when bills land at the same time.
That kind of predictability helps you plan around the real numbers, not guesses.

Parents in Australia often miss this one because it sounds simple until you see the tax rules.
Money a child earns from a job is taxed like adult income. But unearned income, like bank interest or shares bought for them, can be hit much harder.
Here’s the basic split:
• up to $416 tax-free
• $417 to $1,307 taxed at 66%
• above $1,307 taxed at 45%
If your child has savings or investments, it’s worth checking how the income is actually being earned.

Most businesses don’t have a profit problem. They have a cash timing problem.
Money gets tied up in GST, unpaid invoices, loan repayments, and quiet spending that never looks big on its own.
The fix starts with a simple monthly cash audit. Look at what’s due, what’s still outstanding, and what’s leaving the bank before you assume the numbers are fine.
Comment CASH and we’ll share the first place to check.

TPAR is one of those lodgments that’s easy to forget until the deadline is suddenly here.
If your business paid contractors during the previous financial year, the report covers 1 July to 30 June and is due by 28 August each year.
The good news is it’s all done online through the ATO, and if you no longer need to report, you can submit a non-lodgment advice instead.
