Today the team at STM celebrated our Director, Anthony Whitehead's 30 year work anniversary.

Truly a milestone to be celebrated. There certainly has been some huge changes since Anthony began his career in 1996, there was mention of dial up internet, floppy disks, the Macarena and Nintendo 64.

Congratulations Anthony on your dedication, passion and commitment to STM, Accounting and the communities we live in.

Tonight, members of the STM team were honoured to attend the candlelight vigil in Wodonga, standing alongside the Albury Wodonga Nepalese community during an incredibly difficult time.

We were especially proud to stand with our teammate and AWNA President, Yogendra Rai, and to show our heartfelt support to Yogendra, his family, friends and the wider Nepalese community.

The gathering was a moving reminder of the strength that comes from community — coming together in solidarity, compassion and support when it is needed most.

🇳🇵 Candlelight Vigil for Nepal – Albury Wodonga Community 🇳🇵

STM extends our thoughts and deepest sympathies to the Nepalese community following the devastating floods in Nepal and the tragic loss of life.

The Albury Wodonga Nepalese Association is holding a Candlelight Vigil this evening, providing an opportunity for our local community to come together in memory of those who have lost their lives, in support of the families affected, and in solidarity with the people of Nepal.

AML Laws - last week we gave you some information on changes that come in affect on 1 July 2026. This week we'll walk you through the process and how it may effect you in your dealings with STM. We have developed a robust and consistent approach and partnered with leading industry experts to ensure your information is secure and there is minimal disruption.

🔔 Important changes are coming for professional service providers

Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws are expanding under what is known as AML/CTF Tranche 2.

These changes will affect accounting firms and it requires us to collect and verify additional information from some clients, particularly when establishing new relationships or providing certain services. These new rules affect all our clients, even those who have been with us for many years.

You will notice some changes as we perform what is known as "designated services" in the coming months. STM has reviewed our internal processes to ensure we are ready for these new requirements.

We will need to perform identity verification for new and existing clients. We understand that providing extra documentation can sometimes feel like another admin task, so we’ll aim to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible.
