Keeping Informed, Staying Ahead – IPA Network Lunch
As a member of the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), I recently attended an IPA Network Lunch, gaining valuable insights into the changes and challenges facing Australian businesses and the accounting profession.
Some key topics included:
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) – Increasing compliance responsibilities, including preventing financial crime and the financing of weapons proliferation.
AI & Technology – Exploring how artificial intelligence can improve efficiency while maintaining strong governance, security and professional standards.
Tax Reform & Government Policy – Discussions around Capital Gains Tax, trusts, GST and the complexity of Australia’s taxation system, including the potential impact of proposed changes on small businesses.
Card Payment Surcharges – Understanding the implications of payment reforms and additional costs for businesses.
The Cost of Compliance – Concerns about increasingly complex regulations, short government consultation periods and the financial burden placed on small businesses..
Why does this matter to my clients?
