The Australian government wants to slash the Capital Gains Tax discount from 𝟱𝟬% 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝟯𝟯% 𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟱%.

And the new rules could kick in as early as 𝟭𝟮 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Here's the thing — this has been tried before. In 2025 alone, 𝟭𝟲,𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞 after the government went after the wealthy. Job hiring fell. Investors stopped investing. House prices didn't move.

𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝘅 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆.

The ATO is changing the rules on super. And if you're not ready by 𝟭 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, it's going to hurt.

We're talking 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁, an 𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟲𝟬%, and a payroll process that goes from 𝟰 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝟱𝟮.

This isn't something you can ignore and deal with later.

Here's what's changing:

❗Super must now be paid at the same time as salary and wages
❗Contributions must reach your employee's fund within 7 business days of payday
❗The ATO Clearing House closes permanently on 30 June 2026

The businesses that plan now will feel this the least. The ones that don't? It will be an expensive lesson.
