You can have a full diary, plenty of customers and a healthy-looking revenue number⦠and still wonder where all the money is going.
If you want a better picture of how your business is actually performing, start with these three numbers:
1. Revenue
How much money is coming into the business? This tells you about sales, but not necessarily how much you're keeping.
2. Profit
Whatās left after your business expenses? This gives you a much better idea of whether the business is actually making money.
3. Cash in the bank
How much money is available right now? Because being profitable on paper doesn't always mean you have cash available to spend.
At Think Big, we help business owners understand their numbers, improve cash flow and make better decisions about where the business is heading.

That number sitting in your bank account can be a little misleading.
Good cash flow management means looking beyond what's available today and knowing:
What's coming in, and when
What's going out
What's due
What's coming up
What you can actually afford to spend
Because having $50k in the bank doesn't mean you have $50k available to spend.
Once you understand the bigger picture, you're in a much better position to make decisions, plan and avoid those "where did all the money go?" moments.
If you're not sure what your cash flow is really telling you, our team can help you make sense of it.

This occurred to me while I was on a night flight... You canāt really see the whole picture when youāre standing too close to it.
Itās something I see with business owners all the time. Youāre so involved in the day-to-day that it can be hard to step back and see whatās actually happening across the business.
Sometimes you donāt need another person to tell you what to do. You just need someone outside the business to ask the right questions, look at things differently and help you see what you might be missing.
Thatās one of the things I really value about the work we do at Think Big. Sometimes a little perspective can change the whole picture.

Your business can be growing and still feel like thereās never enough cash. We see it all the time.
Sometimes you don't need more sales. You just need to take a closer look at where the money is going, whatās tying up your cash, and whether your current setup still makes sense as the business grows.
Thatās why Michael and Laura have teamed up to offer a Strategic Cash Flow Audit.
In a 15-minute discovery call, theyāll take a look at the bigger picture, including:
⢠Cash flow
⢠Profitability
⢠Sustainability
⢠Scalability
Together, we'll work out what might be holding the business back and where there could be opportunities to spend, save or manage your money a little better.

Thereās a good chance your business is paying for something nobody uses. Not a huge expense. Not something that screams āproblemā.
Just a subscription, software, membership or service thatās been quietly coming out of the bank account every month while nobody really thinks about it.
Hereās a simple 15-minute exercise:
Pull up your last 3 months of business transactions and highlight every recurring payment.
Then ask yourself:
š Do we still use it?
š Does it actually make us money or save us time?
š Would we notice if we cancelled it?
If the answer is no, cancel it, downgrade it, or at least investigate whether you still need it.
It might only save you $20 here or $50 there, but those small expenses add up quickly when theyāre happening every month. And the sneaky part? You stop noticing them.
Save this one and do the 15-minute check when you have a spare moment.

One of the things Iām most proud of about Think Big is the team weāve built around our clients.
Weāre not just here to tick boxes at tax time. We work with business owners across accounting, bookkeeping, tax, cash flow, lending, Profit First, business strategy and financial planning, so thereās a lot more to the conversation than just the numbers.
Our aim is pretty simple: get to know you, understand where you want to go and help you make better financial decisions along the way.
If youāve got questions about your business, your finances or what your next step should look like, feel free to get in touch. Weāre always happy to have a chat and see how we can help.

DIY finances aren't bad. In fact, they can be exactly right when you're starting out. But the way you manage a small business doesn't always work when the business becomes bigger, busier and more complex.
That's often the point where a finance team stops being a nice-to-have and starts becoming seriously valuable.
Think you might be at that point? Let's talk.
